Customized medals, medallions & trophies are a great way to reward your employees, clients and loved ones for their hard work. Custom medals can be made out of many different materials, including medal, resin, ABS, soft PVC and wooden. The most popular types of custom medals in the market are made with metal. Metal medals are generally used for awards that will be presented at formal events such as banquets or award dinners. They are also commonly given as awards for sports teams or other organizations that participate in athletic competitions.

The most common type of metal used in custom medals is brass. Brass has a warm golden color that makes it look elegant on any medal design. The downside of brass is that it doesn’t hold up well against wear and tear over time, so it’s best suited for decorative purposes rather than functional ones like awards for athletes who compete frequently.

Besides brass medals, zinc alloy and iron material are also enjoyed a favorable market if any low-budget projects. The finish of final medals can be almost the same as brass medallions but much lower cost. Some of clients may have puzzles how to choose zinc alloy or iron. Generally iron is kind of stiff material and it have size limitations, for the medal size less than 3” with 2D single design, 1-5/8” with 2D design on both sides, or 1.5” with 2D+3D, then iron medal is available for stamping. Otherwise we would suggest zinc alloy medal.

Another popular option for creating custom medals is aluminum alloy. This material offers an affordable option that doesn’t sacrifice style or durability like brass does; however, it’s not as shiny as brass so it doesn’t hold up quite as well under close inspection (e.g., if you’re trying to read the text printed on your medal).
